How it works

The Door Lockdown Device makes doors as impenetrable as the walls around them. It looks and operates like simplicity itself: a lightweight steel bar that slips into place in (literally) two seconds. It is inserted into a permanent safety bracket fastened on the back of the classroom door and is reinforced to the floor by inserting a drop pin through the bottom plate of the lock-bar and into a pre-drilled hole in the classroom floor. The door is unmovable; it cannot be pushed or pulled, even if the lock is shot out or the hinges removed. The DLD is a solution technology that doesn’t require any future upgrades or new features.

The DLD is a sophisticated energy transfer mechanism that can withstand 1500 or more pounds of force. This deceptively simple steel bar delivers best-in-class, military grade security that has application beyond schools and universities — businesses, embassies, and military bases.

Installation is as simple as mounting a small bracket onto the interior of the door and drilling a small hole in the floor.

In the event of a lockdown situation, the DLD is simply slid into place and the pin dropped through it and into the floor. In two seconds the door is completely secure.

Unlike other products, the DLD is the only one that can be activated without opening the classroom door.

Once the emergency has passed the unit can be just as easily removed. Police, fire fighters, and rescue units can also disable the device from the outside with a specially designed unlocking tool in seconds in the case of a hostage situation. Information regarding this technology will only be given to rescue units.

No annual contracts
No invasive installations
No electrical systems to fail
No keys
No passwords
No hassle

This device is the 21st Century equivalent of the fire extinguisher with equivalent costs. Sadly, it is just as important to have in the classroom. Hopefully, as seldom used and needed — but just as sensible and necessary. Just in case.
